Renewal FAFSA
Follow these steps to renew your FAFSA and again be eligible for federal aid.
- In November or December you’ll receive notice (email or regular mail) reminding you to apply for the upcoming award year. If you don’t receive a notice, it is still your responsibility to renew for the upcoming year.
- Access your Renewal FAFSA on the Web using your PIN. (You do not have to reapply for another PIN.)
- Review the information on the Renewal FAFSA, change or add information as needed, sign and submit.
- You’ll receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) containing your application results.
- Review your SAR to make sure all you information is correct.
- Check with your financial aid administrator, or contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) if you have questions about the FAFSA renewal process.
- Like the first time, save all your records and materials used to renew your FAFSA. Print a copy of your FAFSA on the Web application. You might need them later to prove the information you reported was accurate.
(The process of documenting the information you provided on the FAFSA is called verification. If your application is selected for verification and you don not provide the documents requested by your school, you will not receive federal student aid and you might not receive aid from other non-federal sources.)
