You must complete the following checklist to obtain a Student Loan.

Request a PIN Number:
Register on-line at www.pin.ed.gov. This pin is necessary in order for you to sign your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). (Note: Be sure your parent registers on-line using the same website address, if he/she plans to obtain a Parent Loan.)
 

Complete the FAFSA:
Complete your FAFSA on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov or call COSTEP at 1-800-973-6371 to set up an appointment for assistance. The FAFSA is mandatory in order to apply for Financial Aid (e.g. grant, work-study, scholarships and student/parent loans). The college/university of your choice will use the information from your FAFSA in order to determine your financial need.

Accept your Award Letter:
Accept/sign your award letter and return to your college/university’s financial aid office. This letter will detail what type of financial aid you qualify for. (Note: Make sure to follow the directions your school provides you to accept your financial aid.)
